Is Organic milk better than that coming from non-organic cows?

We believe it is, and we are always being told by our customers that it tastes fresher, ‘sweeter' and creamier than non organic milk. In recent years however, as organic dairy products have increased in popularity, scientists have been taking a greater interest in it and several research studies have taken place which show another difference is that organic milk can have higher levels of Omega 3 essential fatty acids*. These help to combat heart disease, arthritis and among other benefits, aid concentration. So they are a valuable constituent of diets for both young and old. One of the first pointers to the nutritional superiority of organic milk came from the Institute of Environmental and Grassland Research. Research conducted found that the organic milk they analysed contained around two thirds more Omega 3 than conventional samples. In 2004 there was further confirmation of the superiority of organic milk in the results of an Aberdeen University study. They found that the organic milk they analysed had three quarters more Omega 3. This means that a pint can contain the entire recommended daily intake and that a matchbox sized piece of organic cheese would provide around 88% of the recommended daily allowance. There's further endorsement for organic milk from the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences. They have found that it also contains significantly more vitamin E, and 2 - 3 times more beta carotene than conventional milk. Both are antioxidants vital to good health, with vitamin E helping to combat aging. In addition, carotenoids are an important component of the flavour in milk. What is the reason for the superior nutritional benefits of organic milk? The scientific view is that it's due to the high clover content of the natural diet enjoyed by organic dairy herds.
